Beltone Illuminate: clearer conversations with the person you’re focused on.
Beltone’s newest hearing aid family uses AI to bring forward the voice you’re paying attention to, not just the loudest one in the room. It’s made by GN, the same company behind ReSound. At Fidelity Hearing Centre, our independent audiologists will help you decide if it’s the right fit for your hearing, your ears and the people you want to hear.
Independent clinic · Springwood, Birkdale & Plainland · Private health and government hearing subsidies may apply.

A great hearing aid, chosen for you, not for a sales target
Fidelity Hearing Centre is independent and family-owned. We aren’t tied to one manufacturer, so we recommend Beltone when it’s genuinely the best match for you, and we’ll tell you when another brand suits you better.
Independent advice
We fit hearing aids from the major manufacturers. Beltone is one of the options we compare side by side, based on your test results and goals.
Tested, then fitted
Your fitting starts with a full hearing assessment, and we verify and fine-tune the settings so the sound is right for your ears.
Fitted for your listening life
We tune the settings around the conversations that matter to you — partner, family, grandkids, work and social situations — then refine them from your feedback at follow-up.
Ongoing local care
Adjustments, cleaning and support from the same local team, at our Springwood, Birkdale and Plainland clinics, with remote fine-tuning when it suits you.
Ways to wear Beltone Illuminate
Illuminate is one hearing aid family offered in several styles, from a tiny rechargeable receiver-in-ear model to custom styles made from impressions of your ears. We’ll help you choose the style that suits your hearing, your ears and how you live.
Illuminate microRIE
A very small rechargeable receiver-in-ear hearing aid that sits discreetly behind the ear, with a slim wire to a speaker in the ear canal. Beltone describes it as the world’s smallest AI rechargeable RIE.*
- True Directionality on Illuminate 17, for speech in busy places**
- Up to 24 hours from a charge, even when streaming,† with inductive charging
- True Focus in the Beltone HearMax™ app for an extra boost in noise (17 and 9)
- Fitted with a soft dome or a custom-made earpiece
Great for: family dinners, clubs, cafés and group conversations, for people who want a very small rechargeable hearing aid with all the options for hearing in noise.
Illuminate RIE 312 & RIE 13
Receiver-in-ear styles that use disposable batteries. The RIE 13 is slightly larger, with a longer battery life and a telecoil for hearing loops.
- Swap batteries rather than recharge
- RIE 13 includes a telecoil
- Illuminate CROS, with a microRIE transmitter, for hearing in one ear
Great for: people who use hearing loops, prefer to change batteries, or need a CROS solution for single-sided hearing loss.
Illuminate ITE, ITC & CIC
Custom styles made from impressions of your ears, including rechargeable ITE and ITC models, a battery ITC, and a tiny CIC that sits deep in the canal.
- Made to fit the shape of your ears
- Rechargeable ITE and ITC options
- Nothing sits behind the ear, which suits glasses wearers
Great for: people who’d rather wear something in the ear. Full True Directionality is a feature of the microRIE at Illuminate 17.

Not every style suits every hearing loss or every ear. Ask us which Illuminate styles suit you.
Hear the person you’re focused on, not just the loudest voice.
In a busy room, many hearing aids lock on to whichever sound is loudest. That isn’t always the person you want to hear: your partner across the table, or a grandchild beside you.
Beltone Illuminate’s True Directionality brings three technologies together, automatically. AcoustIQ reads the sound around you and adjusts instantly, four-microphone beamforming follows where you’re focused, and DNN denoising, a deep neural network, reduces distracting noise so conversation takes less effort. Beltone reports that 83% of users achieved better speech clarity in noise than with the closest competitor, and the technology has been recognised by Hörzentrum Oldenburg for better audibility and lower listening effort in noise.** Your audiologist decides how these features are set up for your hearing and the places you spend your time.
Loudest-voice focus
Locks on to the loudest sound, which isn’t always the person you want to hear.
Illuminate with True Directionality
Follows where you’re focused and softens the noise around it.**
A Sunday family lunch, with Illuminate
- Everyone talks at onceAcoustIQ recognises the busy room and adjusts automatically, so you don’t need to change a thing.
- You turn to your grandchildBeamforming follows your focus, bringing their voice forward instead of the loudest voice at the table.**

Stay connected, wherever you are
Illuminate streams with Bluetooth® LE Audio and Auracast™, recharges overnight in its rechargeable styles, and the Beltone HearMax app puts control and remote care in your pocket.
Calls and streaming
Stream calls, music, podcasts and TV audio from compatible iPhone and Android devices, with hands-free calls on most styles.
Auracast™ broadcast audio
Tune in to Auracast broadcasts in venues such as airports, gyms and theatres, with the Auracast Assistant in the HearMax app helping you find them.
Accessories for tough situations
The TV-Streamer+ sends TV sound to your hearing aids, and can broadcast with Auracast. The Multi-Mic+ picks up a partner’s voice across a noisy table or a meeting room.
All-day rechargeable
The microRIE and rechargeable custom styles give up to 24 hours from a charge, even when streaming.† Inductive chargers, including a portable option, make charging simple.
Beltone HearMax™ app & remote care
Adjust volume and programs, boost True Focus in noise, and find a misplaced hearing aid. We can also fine-tune your hearing aids remotely through the app when a clinic visit isn’t convenient.
Built for Queensland life
Every Illuminate style is IP68-rated, with a protective nanocoating on every part, so dust, sweat and humidity are less of a worry.
More ways for your audiologist to get you hearing what matters
Beltone Illuminate comes in three technology levels: 17, 9 and 6. The level decides how many features and adjustable parameters your audiologist can access to shape speech in background noise, so you can follow your partner, family and grandkids at home and in the busier places you spend time. Illuminate 17 gives them all optimisation features. Each step down removes or reduces features from that set, which reduces the options available to obtain the sound and benefit you want in the listening situations that matter to you.
Your audiologist can access every Illuminate feature and parameter to optimise clarity in busy, changing listening situations.
- True Directionality: AcoustIQ, four-microphone beamforming and automatic DNN denoising working together, on the microRIE
- True Focus in the HearMax app with three settings, for an extra boost in noise
- The strongest noise, wind and speech-in-noise settings
- The most adjustable parameters for fine-tuning
Your audiologist still has strong automatic support for noisy places to work with, with reduced options compared with Illuminate 17.
- Automatic DNN denoising is removed, so full True Directionality is removed
- True Focus is reduced to one setting, on the microRIE
- Noise and speech-in-noise settings are reduced
- Adjustable parameters for fine-tuning are reduced
The core Illuminate experience. Connectivity, the app and remote care remain, with reduced options for your audiologist to shape speech in noise.
- True Focus is removed
- Beamforming and noise settings are reduced further
- Adjustable parameters for fine-tuning are reduced further
Beltone Illuminate, ReSound Sensia and the clinic own-brands
GN, the Danish company that makes Beltone, also makes ReSound, and supplies hearing aids that some large clinic networks sell under their own names. The badge and the app can differ, but the hearing aid inside can be the same. Here’s how to compare like with like.
ReSound Sensia
ReSound Sensia is GN’s ReSound-branded equivalent of Beltone Illuminate: the same AI platform, the same styles, including the microRIE, and the same approach to hearing in noise. It uses the ReSound Smart 3D app instead of Beltone HearMax, and ReSound numbers its levels 9, 7 and 5 rather than 17, 9 and 6.‡
Hearing Australia XJ range
Hearing Australia’s XJ hearing aids are built on the same GN platform, with AcoustIQ, beamforming and DNN noise reduction in the top levels, a microRIE style, LE Audio and Auracast™. They use the Hearing Australia app.‡
Amplifon own-brand models
Amplifon sells its own “Ampli” range, made for it by major hearing aid manufacturers, which can include GN. If you’ve been offered one, ask which manufacturer and model it’s based on, and which technology level it is.‡
Who Beltone tends to suit
- You want to follow conversation in busy places: family lunches, clubs, cafés, work. Look at Illuminate 17 in the microRIE, with True Directionality.
- You want something very small: the microRIE is Beltone’s smallest rechargeable AI style.*
- You’d rather wear something in the ear: custom Illuminate styles are made to fit your ears, if your ear canal and hearing suit them.
- You have hearing in only one ear: Illuminate CROS, with a microRIE transmitter.
- You’re looking to upgrade: from older hearing aids that are past their best — including models that are now obsolete — whatever brand you’re wearing now, and want an honest comparison.
Not sure? That’s what your appointment is for. We’ll test your hearing, talk through the situations that matter to you and compare Beltone against other leading brands, with no pressure.

What’s new in Beltone Illuminate?
Illuminate is Beltone’s newest hearing aid family, released in 2026 and following Beltone Envision. The headline feature is True Directionality, which combines AcoustIQ, four-microphone beamforming and DNN denoising to bring forward the voice you’re focused on in noise. It also adds the very small rechargeable microRIE, Bluetooth® LE Audio with Auracast™, and IP68 protection across every style.
Is Beltone Illuminate the same as ReSound Sensia?
Yes, in all the ways that matter for your hearing. GN makes both brands, and describes ReSound Sensia and Beltone Illuminate as equivalent families built on the same platform. The differences are the name, the app (Beltone HearMax or ReSound Smart 3D) and how the levels are numbered. We’ll help you compare them like for like.‡
I’ve been offered a Hearing Australia or Amplifon hearing aid. Is it the same?
It may be. Hearing Australia’s XJ range is built on the same GN platform as Illuminate and Sensia, and Amplifon’s own-brand range includes models made by major manufacturers. Ask for the manufacturer, model and technology level, or bring the details to us. We’ll tell you what it is and give you an honest comparison.‡
Is True Directionality available in every style?
No. Full True Directionality, with automatic DNN denoising, is available on Illuminate 17 in the microRIE. Other styles and levels still have AcoustIQ and Illuminate’s automatic sound processing, with reduced noise options. We’ll explain what that means for the situations you find hardest.
I already wear Beltone. Is Illuminate an upgrade?
Illuminate is new hardware, not a software update. If your current Beltone hearing aids, such as Envision or Serene, are still working well, we’re happy to keep looking after them. Ask us whether moving to Illuminate would make a real difference in the situations you find hardest.
Will Illuminate work with my phone?
Illuminate supports Bluetooth® LE Audio, streaming and hands-free calls with compatible iPhone and Android devices on most styles. Compatibility depends on your phone model and software version, so we’ll check your phone and pair it with you at your fitting.
Can I get help with the cost?
Eligible pensioners, veterans and some other groups may receive hearing aids through the Australian Government Hearing Services Program, and many private health funds offer rebates on hearing aids. See our Subsidies & rebates page, or ask our team to check for you.
Do you only fit Beltone?
No. Fidelity Hearing Centre is independent. We fit hearing aids from several leading manufacturers and recommend whichever one best suits your hearing, ears, budget and lifestyle.
